Voices in Cyberspace: An Interview Series with African and Afrodescendant Artists, Activists, and Scholars in Europe (and beyond)

In the context of the ERC Starting Grant project AFROEUROPECYPERSPACE (101110473), we conducted a series of interviews with Africans and Afrodescendants in Europe (and beyond) who use the internet to gain visibility and participate in knowledge production as part of their literary, artistic, cultural, political and/or research activities. The interviews include question on the interviewees’ digital presence and on the opportunities, challenges and risk of artivism and activism in cyberspace. Furthermore, they deal with questions of self-positioning and self-designation, the rise in visibility of African and Afrodescendant persons and movements across Europe in recent years and the challenges of decolonizing European societies. Finally, they explore how academia could and should involve writers, artists and activist in its research.
