Julia and Francesca participated in the Postcolonial Internet Studies Conference at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. In their talk, “Staging of the Postcolonial Self across Media: Kiyémis and the Transmedial Construction of Afrodiasporic Subjectivity”, they examined how Afrodiasporic subjectivity is constructed through a transmedial process of self-narration that moves across digital and print media, using the work of French-Cameroonian writer, poet and blogger Kiyémis as an example. The conference, which also featured keynote lectures by Roopika Risam and Sandra Ponzanesi, tool place at the Haus der Universität in Düsseldorf, October 8–9, 2026.
